This tour of Fine Art Photography
is offered by Kansas native and professional photographer, Dan
Rose. Dan has been a working professional photographer for
over thirty years. The focus of Dan’s fine art work is urban
and rural architecture and landscape photography. The body of
work exhibits a variety of panoramic, spherical and black and
white images.
Dan incorporates the use of
conventional, rotational and swing lens panoramic film
cameras, medium and large format film cameras, as well as
digital capture methods. This touring exhibit contains
multiple Kansas images.
It is a living exhibit that
continues to be updated with new works.
Dan’s photography has
been shown throughout the United States and Cologne, Germany.
He has several solo exhibits
scheduled for 2010 and is currently on the Kansas Arts on Tour
Roster.

By combining an exhibition of his work with
his expert photography instruction, the artist is able to
share his unique vision, while inspiring participants and the
communities with whom he works. Dan will make himself
available for an artist’s reception and/or lecture on a
variety of topics, including photography and the creative
process.
All the photographs
on display will be available for purchase. Dan will provide a
brochure “About the Artist,” to the exhibition facility.
The brochure will provide the
necessary information for the art collector to purchase the
art.
It is duty placed upon the
exhibiting facility will be to provide the brochure to all
attendees of the exhibition and to notify Dan when more copies
are needed.
This Fine Art Photography Exhibit
offered by Dan Rose, can be configured to meet the needs of
the facility/organization. Facilities can build an exhibit by
selecting the body of work they would like to display.
This can be done in consideration
of multiple factors, including theme, areas of interest,
budget and schedule.
Here
are some examples:
Many of the
photographs are offered as a series and are toured, as such.
Each series has a theme, technique, style or method which
makes them relate, as a set of images.
Example 1:
The “Lith Series,” is comprised of four
20”x24” framed images and is exhibited as a “set” of four
photographs, renting for $180 per 6 week period. “Series” or
“sets” of photographs tour as a group and are not available
separately.
Example 2:
The largest
photographs are offered individually.
These large images rent for
approximately the same price as a series of smaller
photographs.
The popular Spherical Panoramic
photograph “Sphere City” “30x30”, rents for $180.00 per 6 week
period.
Example 3:
An “Artist in
Residence” package:
This
package offers the greatest value. By combining an exhibition
of Dan’s work with his expert photography instruction, the
artist is able to share his vision and skills with the
community, while bringing his work to life for participants.
Options in this package include multiple workshops, a solo art
exhibit featuring an opening reception and “artist’s talk”,
presentations for local community groups, and “mini workshops”
for area schools and colleges.
Additional marketing and
promotional services are available to raise this selection to
a major event for the hosting facility

The Pinhole Series

Pinhole photography is sometimes called "Lensless
photography" because a lens is not used on the camera to
capture the image. In its place a cover is place over the lens
mount with a very tiny hole drilled in it. This serves as the
lens to capture the images. The result is pleasing soft focus
effect with unlimited depth of field.

The Lith Series


These high-contrast, grainy images with great visual texture
and detail are modern “Lith Prints”. Historically, these
photographs were made by processing photographic paper in film
developer. This chemical process was unpredictable, due to the
ever-changing chemistry.
